What
good would it do for the Lord to remember his own word if it were not
for the benefit of his children and for his ultimate glory? It, of
course, would be null and void. So, here the psalmist prays for God's
remembrance of his own word to the benefit of the psalmist.
The
relationship between God and the believer is brought to bear through the
word of God. God's word is the instrument through which God reveals
himself to man.
In God we have our trust and our hope;
therefore, our hope lies within the pages of God's word, since the word
introduces us to more and more information about God, his Son, Jesus
Christ, and the Holy Spirit, thus operating upon us a grand scheme to
bring about sanctification and holiness manifested more and more in our
lives. God is good that way.
